Control Your Own Destiny

“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.”
-Brian Tracy

In order to make choices that may change your destiny, you must first know yourself and what you are creating moment by moment. What you do in the present moment brings you closer to being in command of your destiny. When you focus on past experience and the knowledge you’ve gained from school, work, society, economic, and spiritual training, you can begin to know yourself.

Human nature is created so that you can choose your destiny, and then control it. The key is to be one of the few who know where you are going and exactly how to get there. To do this, you must realize that life is changeable. With each change along the way you develop experience. You enrich your learning.

Since your life is always in a constant state of creating and developing, you create your own story by choosing the direction you want it to take. With any one decision, you can change your destiny. You have the power to do this: it is called making choices. Without it you’d just be following the masses and letting others control your destination.

The repetition of certain thoughts also plays a huge part in determining your destiny. This is why it’s most important to be aware of what and how you think. Some thoughts that may bear repeating include:

  • To always show positive feelings toward others. Negative thoughts and feeling are limiting.
  • To know you’re smart even if it takes you a little longer to understand a point.
  • To know that failures can lead to success.
  • To welcome problems - they are learning tools.
  • To know that there is untapped skill and creativity in everything you attempt.
  • To remember that God put you on earth to win.
  • To know that prosperity comes to those who believe it will happen.
  • That giving quality service to your customers may result in a quantity of customers.
  • To know that valuing your own self and making a commitment to excellence is worth striving for.
  • To treat others with respect and kindness is a measure of your spirituality.

And as you keep these thoughts uppermost in your mind, you have the power to be guided by them. Yet, just knowing without thinking how you respond to life is the art of self-awareness and living in the present moment. Being aware of each moment is a part of your true being

Other ways to measure the power of your thoughts is to limit any thoughts that are non-productive. Some of these non-productive thoughts may include:

  • Feeling guilty when you say, “No.” Refusing to cater to the demands of others is not a selfish act. Saying, ‘yes, when you mean ‘no’ may cause resentment.’
  • Feeling ’stupid’ when you don’t understand something - Rather then make a mistake when instructions are not clear, don’t be afraid to ask for clarification. This is a sign of good judgment.
  • Thinking that everything you do is solely your own doing. Be confident and have enough faith to know that your life is guided by a higher power. This confirms your spirituality.
  • Ignoring opportunities to change - Growth comes with change. Life is a constant state of change. Be ready for any worthwhile challenge or opportunity to grow.
  • Worrying - Some of the best opportunities are missed when you worry and procrastinate until the opportunity has come and gone. Learn to be decisive. What’s the worst possible scenario? How hurt would you feel if you missed a great opportunity?

Whatever you do, and wherever you are in life, pay attention to your thoughts. Any sign of negativity, anger, fear, or procrastination is harmful. Get rid of biased opinions. Be open to other ways of thinking. Make the best of your thoughts and your thoughts will make the best you.

Then, let your new founded self-awareness lead you to a life where you are free to choose and to control your own dreams and goals. That’s your destiny.

Betting Hall Taking Risks: All about Taking a Chance

By common definition a gambling house is an edifice that caters to games of luck. Here, aficionados will be encouraged to take a risk going for one-armed-bandits or trying out another wagers. Gaming room games most often have absolutely determined percentages incorporated which guarantee the gambling house reserves its profit against the gamesters. Three Card Poker

A large amount of betting room games can goad you into being overly obsessed in no time. the quintessential 1-armed bandit, a coin munching apparatus with three, sometimes more reels which rotate if an arm connected to it is manipulated. This machine customarily will spill winnings in accord with a combination of images seen on the display of the contraption. Regrettably, gaming establishment pastimes encourage a hallucination of being in control, thus conning the gaming fan - the victim is provided with options, but in actual fact these can’t truly compensate for the customer’s statistical odds. That is induced by the gaming room not refunding the full stake as hoped for. This structure will persistently be seen at work in well-known casino games like poker, dice, roulette or blackjack.

Stud poker is definitely an incredibly popular casino pastime. The clients, religiously guarding their covered hands, place bets into a pot in the center which is then given to the prevailing gamester blessed with the best set of cards. (And yes, the best bluffing hand may actually win) Quite like five card stud poker, blackjack is likewise an incredibly trendy casino game. A sizeable portion of its repute is caused by the mix of chance and knowledge & decision making, and a method called card counting. This is a highly complex technique in which customers may reverse the winning odds of the card game in their interest both by betting & systematic actions based on the hands dealt.

Craps is yet another famous gambling hall pastime where players can bet on the throw of a couple of dice. Customers wager on the end result of one spin, or on a series of rolls on 2 dice. Contrary to blackjack, there isn’t any credible sustainable killer strategy punters could apply to improve the odds.

Roulette is another insanely popular casino game of luck; a croupier revolves a roulette wheel enclosing exactly thirty-seven (in the case of French roulette) or thirtyeight (American roulette) separately tagged compartments in which the white ball must settle, determining the final winning number as well as the other chances that come with it. Supposing that a punter has bet on a single number and is successful so they’ve got a lucky hand, the set return will be thirty-five to one, the initial pledge will be paid back. Hence, the initial wager is multiplied by 36.

Persist in being emphatically watchful however, for such gambling house pastimes should be deemed very habituating. Uncounted lives have been wasted due to inordinate gambling & whereas it definitely can be fun, do please strive to govern your play.

Exposing the Car Insurance Quote Mystery

Congratulations, you have just purchased the car of your dreams; you worked a great deal, now it is time to insure it. Car insurance is mandatory in all states, and must be maintained throughout ownership. Insurance quotes can vary from company to company, and there are a few factors that you can control, and other factors you cannot. A full understanding of how insurance quotes are arrived at, will give you the best rate, and maximum coverage.

Factors that cannot be controlled include the age of the driver. Common sense tells us that a new driver would be more of a risk to an insurance company, than an established driver. Therefore a driver in their early 20’s would pay a higher premium than a driver in their 40’s. Further, elderly drivers have poor reaction time, and similarly would pay more of a premium. The ideal driving age would be between 35 to 55 years; anyone younger, or older would pay more.

Gender is another uncontrolled factor that insurance quotes are based on. Statistically, insurance companies see females as safer drivers than males. As a result, female drivers pay less than their male counterparts.

There are factors, which we can control, namely the amount of traffic tickets and accidents. A ticket is a violation of law that could potentially result in an accident. Insurance companies frown on this, and will penalize the driver with higher rates. Similarly, accidents could indicate a pattern of behavior; as such the driver is penalized with higher rates.

Where you live is another controlling factor that effects insurance quotes. Living in a rural area, puts the driver at much less risk of accident or theft as compared to living in a city. As a result, city drivers will pay a larger premium than rural drivers with very few exceptions.

Want to drive a Porsche 911 Carrera? It will cost you. The more your car is worth, the higher your insurance quote will be. The logic should be obvious.

Car insurance companies are now looking at your credit worthiness. Do you have excessive, outstanding credit, or no credit at all? If so, you are a risk in the eyes of the insurance companies, and will get socked with higher insurance quotes. Keeping your credit in check will show the insurance companies you are responsible, both financially, and on the road. As a result, you will pay lower premiums.

Your occupation can put you at a higher risk. Jobs that require many hours of driving, or driving in hazardous conditions, or places will put your quote at a higher rate. Less driving, and exposure to high-risk opportunities, will result in lower premiums. Additionally you want to keep your annual mileage down to a minimum. The more miles you drive, the greater the risk of accident.

Vehicle theft is a risk factor that can easily be minimized. Most companies will give you a discount for having better security for your vehicle. An alarm, or another approved anti-theft device will usually result in some discount. Some companies may insist on having such devices installed on more expensive and desirable cars before they even consider offering you a price.

Some companies look favorably on drivers who have taken a defensive driver’s course. They see this as a commitment to safer driving, thereby lowering the risk of accident, resulting in lower premiums.

Keep in mind these are just general guidelines, and the difference in price between various companies can be significant. What one company may consider a high-risk factor another company may not view as so important. The bottom line, keep your credit in check, be careful on the road and choose a car that fits your budgets.

Networking Your Way to Profit - Part 3 ‘Your Hidden Marketing Opportunity’

Do you have a business card? What does it say about you? About your company?

Could anyone pick it up and know instantly exactly what you offer and the benefits they could enjoy by doing business with you? If your answer is “No” you are missing a vital marketing opportunity…

Having said that, the content of your business card depends very much upon how you use it. If you only ever present it to clients or prospects you’ve spent some time with then the minimum amount of information is all you need. That’s because these people already know you and the purpose of your card is purely to serve as a reminder of your contact details.

But if you attend business meetings, networking with other business people then your card has to fulfil a completely different purpose. It has to work harder for you.

The challenge you, and your business card, is facing is making sure that the people you meet briefly DO remember you and DO remember what you offer. You want to know that when everyone else returns to their office or place of business and glances through the, possibly hundreds, of business cards they’ve collected, yours stands out.

Now I don’t mean it has to be a vivid colour, or a garish design or have wacky graphics on it (although if this is appropriate for your business that’s fine). What it does need is information that clearly explains what you do.

Just try this out - have a look at the business cards you’ve collected. Let’s assume you don’t know any of these people or their businesses in any great depth. Does their card tell you what they do? What they offer? And if it is clear, such as for an accountant or solicitor/attorney, what makes them stand out from all the other cards you have for people in the same profession?

What Does Your Business Card Say About You?

* Does it clearly show what you do or offer? (Your Company name / logo may not be explicit enough).

* Does it show your USP (unique selling proposition)?

* Does it give a testimonial from a happy client/customer?

* Is your photo on there?

* What’s on the back of your card -it isn’t blank - is it?

When I explained to a client the business card is a marketing tool and should include a photo, his response was “I don’t want my ugly mug on there” (actually he’s quite good looking, but modest). I told him being a ’shrinking violet’ was not going to help his business to grow. The intention of the photo is to make your card stand out and make it easier for people to remember you afterwards.

Plus, if you send a card with any literature in the post it gives the person receiving it a sense of confidence they are dealing with a ‘real person’ - not an anonymous company. Remember people buy from people.

The Alternative to Your Photo

If, like my client, you really feel embarrassed about having your photo on your card - try this idea:

Get a photo of you with a happy, smiling client/customer. Ask their permission to use the photo and a testimonial from them in your marketing. Make sure the testimonial is specific, not “Great company, would use again” but “I had problem and am delighted with solution you provided”.

Put the photo, with the testimonial underneath, on your card. (N.B. if you are a guy get a female customer to pose with you and vice versa).

Front and Back

Front:

* Company Name
* Your Name
* Your Contact Details
* Your Photo
* A Descriptive Strapline

Your descriptive strapline is a single ‘headline’ style sentence that encapsulates what your business does. (It could be your 1-liner from your elevator speech that we talked about in Part 1 and 2 of Networking Your Way to Profit).

Back:

* Your marketing message: a description of what you offer.
* Testimonial(s) from happy clients/customers
* Key benefits you deliver

If you are planning to use your cards extensively at business and networking meetings include some space for people to make a note:

We met at……………. On (date)…………….
We spoke about………………………………………..

In Networking Your Way to Profit Part 4, you find out how to position yourself and your company with your business cards and then how to put the cards you’ve collected from others to effective use.

Making Sense of Your Term Life Insurance Quote

Like many things you purchase, term life insurance begins with the quote. You provide some basic information and a person or a computer system churns out a base price for a term life insurance policy. Whether online, in person, or on the phone, you can receive a term life insurance quote instantly.

However, if you want a more accurate idea of the price you’ll be paying for your term life insurance, it’s really important to understand all that this type of insurance offers.

Understanding term life insurance

Term life insurance typically is the most uncomplicated of the various insurance packages. Term life insurance remains in effect for the entire term that was selected by the insured.

Term periods generally range between 1 year and 30 years. If the insured dies within the term that was purchased, the individual or individuals that are named as beneficiaries on the policy receive the death benefit amount that also was chosen at the time the policy was purchased.

For example, when you purchase a 20-year term insurance policy with a specific payout or face value, your beneficiary will receive that amount, in full, if you die anytime during that 20-year period.

Any payout is subject to whatever restrictive clauses are in the policy, such as suicide exclusions. And the payout would occur provided you did not allow your policy to lapse.

If the 20-year term passes and you do not die, your term life insurance policy simply would expire. If your term life insurance quote included a renewal clause which you had written into your actual policy, at the end of the term you would be able to renew the policy.

You can usually do so without having to go through another round of medical history review. The only real drawback is that if you did take advantage of the renewal feature, you’d likely have to pay a much higher premium because you would be 20 years older than you were at the time of original purchase.

How to compare various term life insurance quotes

When you are comparing term life insurance quotes, make sure you are making an equal comparison. Specifically, some quotes will include at no extra charge additional benefits such as accelerated death, accidental death or a disability waiver of premiums.

Other quotes may either omit these benefits or make them available as a rider for which you’ll pay an additional cost.

You might also find that some term life insurance quotes include a conversion to permanent policy opportunity, which you usually are able to take advantage of within the first few years. Again, some companies won’t require a re-evaluation of your health while others will.

The bottom line is that life insurance is a very competitive business and there are companies that will low-ball their term life insurance quotes in order to attract your business.

Before you purchase any policy, make sure you fully understand exactly what the term life insurance quote you receive does and does not cover.

Student Credit Cards 101 - Building Your Credit

If you are student who has just learned how to drive a car or is headed off to college, most of you may not have been given access to your parents’ credit cards. But college student credit cards may provide a solution for young people in need of credit anyway because building good credit with student credit cards may be more beneficial in the long run than borrowing your parent’s credit card. Believe it or not, getting a new student credit card in your name is relatively easy - even if you have minimal income, no co-signer and no credit history. To get your own student credit card, just follow these simple guidelines.

Get A Job

If you don’t already, consider part-time work around campus on in your neighborhood. It can be for only a few hours a week on campus. If you’re going to have your own student credit card, you’ll need to make payments on a monthly basis. Having your own checking and savings account at a local bank or credit union is also a good idea. Most banks have special student accounts that require a very little deposit to open. Establishing a history at the bank and accumulating some savings, will give you more opportunities for credit in the future.

Surf the Net

As a college student, you probably have been bombarded with offers for student credit cards. Maybe you’ve opened your mail to find a fake credit card inside with your name on it. Or, you’ve seen those annoying credit card applications that always fall out of your new textbooks. You may have also seen credit card representatives with booths set up on your campus giving away free t-shirts and hats to those who complete an application. Don’t take the first offer you get, shop around for the best value. The Internet is one of the best places to comparison shop for credit cards.

Read the Fine Print

Beware! Not all student credit cards are alike. Some may have really cool designs that you can pick, such as college logos, sports teams or graphics that act as an extension of your personality. But as the saying goes, “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Although all college student credit cards provide you with cash in the form of plastic, they can vary greatly by a number of factors: credit line offered, annual percentage rates (APR), annual fees, late fees, cash advance fees, over-limit fees and special perks. APRs can vary from 0% to 29%; annual fees $0 - $50; late and over-limit fees can be as much as $30/month, each. Before you sign on the dotted line, carefully read the terms and conditions of the student credit card, especially the fine print. Pick the card that offers you the lowest APR and fees.

Use It (Wisely) Or Lose It

Many Americans, including college kids, are in debt over the heads. Before getting your student credit card, be sure to understand everything about credit. Credit cards make it easy, and tempting, to go on a spending spree. But spend more on your college student credit cards than you make you’ll quickly find yourself drowning in debt. High interest rates, late fees and over-the-limit fees can cause your monthly balance to get way out of control. If you can’t pay your bills, your credit history will be destroyed. Bad credit can keep you from getting student loans, buying a car, purchasing a home… even getting your dream job.

Once you have a job, a bank account, savings and an understanding of what credit is all about, you are ready for your first student credit card! If you’ve done your homework, then you can be confident that you will select the college student credit cards that will help you to establish your credit. Spend wisely and reap the benefits of a good credit history.

A Beginner’s Guide To Bad Credit - What Does Your Credit Rating Say About You?

If you’ve ever experienced financial problems in the past then the chances are that any mistakes you’ve made (whether you know you’ve made them or not!) will be recorded on your credit record. In many cases these mistakes will occur as a result of financial problems you may have experienced - but often you can get a bad credit history without really doing anything wrong.

The majority of problems that will give you a bad credit record will happen if you have problems managing your finances. So, if you miss a credit card payment, default on your mortgage, are declared bankrupt or are given a CCJ (county Court Judgement) against you for one reason or another then this will all show up on your credit rating, for example. These kinds of issues will all count as negatives.

But, other issues can give you bad marks on your credit rating. For example, simple factors like your marital status and whether you have children can give you plus or minus points. The fact is that it isn’t just what you do with your money that comes up on your credit rating - you can have a rating that is less than perfect from a lender’s point of view even if you have never had a financial problem before in your life!

But, there is a key issue here - no matter where your bad credit rating came from. If you have a less than perfect credit score then you look less attractive to lenders when it comes to taking out loans and other forms of finance. The first thing that the majority of lenders will do when you apply for a loan is to look at your credit rating - if they don’t like what they see then they could well turn you down flat. And, things could then go from bad to worse as every rejection that you get when you apply for finance also goes on your credit rating!

Luckily, most lenders will take a better view of bad credit ratings now than they may have done in the past. And, if you find that a mainstream lender won’t deal with you on this basis, then you need to remember that you do have other options when it comes to taking out loans. There is now a whole sector of the lending industry that solely specialises in working with consumers with bad credit so it may be that these specialists will be better placed to help you out.

One last tip - don’t let your bad credit rating cause you further financial problems. Some bad credit specialists have muscled into the market with high interest rates and deals that are not as good as they could be. But, there are hundreds of reputable lending sources that you can work with - the key is just to find them. This is made much easier nowadays if you online to compare rates and deals. Your key aim here is to get the lowest interest rates and the fairest deals you can - after all, you don’t want to make a bad situation worse!

Hurricanes and Credit Issues

Hurricanes and credit issues are serious things and if you are planning to get out of Dodge to avoid a major catastrophic large category hurricane you will need to make sure that your credit card limits are not maxed out and that you have an available balance to afford fuel and hotel rooms for up to three to four weeks.

In fact many areas along the Gulf Coast of the United States after the 2005 Atlantic tropical hurricane season did not allow residents to return for almost three months. Can you handle a financial crisis of that magnitude for three months?

Consumer financial analysts say that the average consumer is 150 times annual income in short-term debt; car loans and credit cards. You can certainly see how serious things can get if you and your family are loaded in the minivan or an SUV attempting to live at a relative’s house or in a hotel room.

It is important to have extra cash available, as well as money in the bank so you can use your ATM or a large credit card balance so that you can buy meals, hotel rooms and other important items you’ll need to sustain your family for a long period of time just in case.

The 2006 Atlantic tropical hurricane season is said to be a very large and damaging hurricane season and you and your family need to be prepared and understand the consequences if you fail to line up your proper credit issues in advance. Please consider this 2006.
