Why Suits Have no Value

Why Suits Have No Value By B. Butler In Texas hold em online poker and most of its closest variants, the four suits (clubs, spades, hearts, and diamonds) have no ranking value. While in other online poker games the ranking of the ace of spades outweighs all other cards, in Hold em these valuations are removed, making all suits of the same ranks equal, and all hands of the same suits also equal. This allows for a wider scale of strategy, as instead of having to guess what suit of hand your opponent has, you are playing based on the hand alone. This is, in part, what separates hold em online poker from a game like five card draw, where even though suits are not often given ranking value, there is some level of the unquantifiable in the game. With hold em, because only two cards remain out of sight, the realm of possibilities is at least curtailed some, leaving better intuition and reading skills to win over pure guess work and premonition. It is thankful, then, in hold em that these suits have no value as it truly makes it a game where the greater players can rise and study is paid off on. While it will never be a skill game to the level of say, basketball, it certainly opens enough doors to allow the victor, most often, what is his.

Poker Players and Substance Abuse

Poker Players and Substance Abuse Yes, the title is a little misleading, but so is the study it talks about. Recently a study from the College of Pharmacy at Nova Southeastern in Florida performed a study on the use of what they dubbed “performing enhancing substances or drugs” (PEDS) and the correlation between their use by online poker players at the tables. According to the study, over 80% of player’s surveyed admitted to using some kind of “PEDS” during online poker play. But here’s my beef with the study. A performing enhancing substance was defined as something as minute as coffee or an energy drink. Yes, caffeine is technically considered a drug. And so are some of the other substances such as ginseng, gaurana, and taurine, commonly found in energy drinks, but saying that these are performance enhancing substances seems to be a stretch. While some online poker participants admitted to using other drugs such as amphetamines, cocaine and/or benzodiazepines (valium and similar drugs), this was a very small minority. The sample size of the study was also negligently left out of the report, and if you’re going to do a study with statistical analysis, the “n=” or sample size is important to determine the margin of error and confidence rating. I think a more appropriate study would be one that tests for performance enhancing drugs that would actually have an effect, such as the amphetamines, opiates, or benzodiazepines, but caffeine shouldn’t be included.

Players Who Seem Comfortable

The general rule for the average online poker player is that if he seems weak he is strong and if he seems strong he is weak. This is a rule based on the idea that the player hopes to trick you and will therefore act the opposite of how he wants to be perceived. Leaning too hard on this rule, though, can lead you sometimes to the incorrect results, as not all situations dictate the player’s operating on this level.

One of the most common disruptions of this tendency comes in situations when a player’s bet at the end of the hand is made to look either like a bluff or a large value bet. When a poker player moves heavy toward a pot when all the cards are out and then seems to have no stress in the situation, leaning back in his chair, talking a lot, and otherwise generally unconcerned with the outcome of the hand, for most less experienced and even more experienced players this means they feel strong with their hand and more likely than not have the goods. You can spot them out when you play poker online tournaments.

Players who look stressed may or may not be acting, but in general it is hard to look truly comfortable when you aren’t, unless you are Chris Ferguson or Gus Hansen.

Starting Slow, Laying Low

When sitting down at a fresh table for a game of poker, you are the new guy on the street. Unless you happen to be playing with a group of those you are familiar with via past play, you are entering a situation where you have less information than those around you. The players already seated know who is wild, who is tight, who is on tilt, and so on. They are therefore at an early advantage against you in those pots until you catch up.

Taking your time, then, and playing perhaps tighter than usual as you begin to acclimate to your surroundings, is wise. Of course, yes, you are going to play big hands when you are dealt them, but being selective about those hands and not testing the strange too much, while taking in information on your poker opponents, is vital to a well balanced and smart sensed game.

As you begin to notice patterns about the other players you can then begin to open up against them accordingly. Taking that extra early time to study motions, tendencies, and so on will pay off for the brief time you are settling in and getting a full rein on your game. Keep this in mind when you play poker online.

Pre-flop Raising

A lot of people tend to get nervous before the flop and have a hard time deciding whether or not a poker hand is worth playing. To keep things simple, think of it this way- If you don’t feel comfortable raising with a hand, you probably shouldn’t play it, and if you’ve got a hand worth playing, then it’s a hand worth raising. A lot of people will advocate limping into a hand by merely calling because it doesn’t tell your poker online opponents what you’ve got. The problem with that is that just calling the big blind tells you nothing about your opponents.

If you enter the hand with a raise, you will tell your opponents something-you’ll be telling them to play timid poker with you, and that will put you at a huge advantage. In addition, you will also thin out your opposition and get a decent idea of what kind of cards your opponents have. A raise before the flop will chase out the mediocre or weak hands that are hoping to hit a miracle flop, which protects you in case of said miracle, and it also alerts you to the players who think that they have a hand worth playing. Depending on your online poker opponent, you can surmise what the players that call your bet are holding. If a tight player calls your raise, you can reasonably figure that he has a decent pocket pair or high runners, if a looser player calls, he may have something as bad as an Ace with a low kicker. Either way, by raising into a hand instead of limping into it, you have placed yourself into a distinctly advantageous position.

Buying Your Winning Lottery Ticket Has Never Been so Simple for the European Lottery

Have you ever inquired what the easiest means to play Euromillions is?

How could you win as much as possible? Or even to scoop a European Lotto Jackpot?

Therefore what can you positively do to step-up your odds of winning?

Numerous players just amble across the street and buy their so-called lotto tickets. They hope to win. But then the odds of winning are one in a couple of millions…not really promising, right?

Well now, according to the European Lotto statistics, 2/3 of Lottery Jackpot winners are syndicates!

And so, we all see the solution. Evidently you realise a better chance to win the Lottery Jackpot if you belong to a syndicate.

How lotto syndicates function?

A Euro Millions Syndicate is a group of players who pool their money and buy as many tickets as feasible. Each lotto ticket has distinct numbers; so then odds are greater than playing on your own.

If the elottery syndicate wins, each and every player receives a share from the profits. So the more lottery players that are in your elottery syndicate the higher your individual prospects are but then; likewise your individual share is lower.

You could simply do a little review on the net, use - Google, Yahoo and Bing or maybe several other search engines. Or you could get some in your local papers in classified ads section.

Or you may decide to sign-up to elottery

There are lots of advantages:

- You will get a pro service
- You will not miss a lotto draw
- You will get detailed statistics in your players back office
- Your Own wins are gathered and then you will have a MoneyBookers, Cheque or Click2Pay payment with your particular percentage!

- All this and much more from the comfort of your own home

For me it means that the elottery syndicate applies a proven mathematical system and that assures that you will match at least one number in each and every draw.

And, that means that even your individual pay out from European Lotto syndicate winnings is bigger than you may win taking part in same lottery numbers on your own!

Plus in conclusion, that means you can become an affiliate partner and after qualifying for some acquirable, attainable requirements you could be taking part in your favorite European Lottery syndicate in effect for free…or maybe you can be effectively building your own new income while playing lottery.

The decision is yours:

Either - Play on your own. Or maybe play the smarter way:

Take Part in a Euro Lottery syndicate and win more often.

Or be even wiser and:

Play in a Euro Lotto syndicate and profit much more often and cover your own ticket cost and play for free plus realize an additional income.

Bowling on the Level: Fine-Tune Your Approach

Here at the bowling center I usually find a part-time bowler hoping to take on the game of bowling competitively for the first time. Should that be your situation, you’ve stumbled upon a important time in growing as a dedicated student of the game. Our introduction to the Top 5 Bowling Tips is for you. An expert in a nearby bowling pro shop want bowlers harness bowling zen mental toughness. A wise bowling wizard once said: knock the pins down to win! That’s a joke. Okay, so it’s more complicated than that. Don’t fret, we can make sure you’re bowling the bowling ball like it was meant to be bowled.

It’s not a big purchase, get a knowledgeable friend to help you purchase custom fit equipment at your bowling pro shop! You’ll notice a difference with your own stuff. I promise, get your own ball drilled, and your game will benefit. A precision fitted bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. Of course another critical matter is sliding out your final step in quality bowling shoes that haven’t been worn out by a million people!

If you may have previous purchased good bowling equipment, you’re ready for the number two piece of bowling advice: aiming the ball. While you face the pins, try not to focus on the back of the lane. Aim for the the points about 15 feet down the lane, like a gunsight. Never thought of this? You’ll find it more effective to roll through a an aid marker that is nearer. For it to work right, it should be your habit to line-up at the precise location 4 steps from the foul line on every attempt. Roll from the same place, in the same way and you can perfect your accuracy and angle.

What do you make of hooks, to get proper speed and ball control? That makes the third-most essential bowler tip. It’s all in the ball type. A lot of pros bowl and carry two or three bowling balls to roll ridiculous hooks, selected precisely for where they are. Just a bit of caution: intermediates should avoid putting on a show, and avoid a ball that weighs a ton. Some avid bowlers travel with bowling balls featuring extra materials. Steer clear of them, because these special-made balls often make even some well known talents appear like beginners. That’s our first 3 bowling tips. There will be more next month.

Thanks, Frank Hulen
